The Montessori Curriculum offers children five key areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Culture. Each learning area is made up of a set of Montessori materials that each teach one key knowledge area or skill. Through repetition and practice, children develop a foundational understanding of each material, and master the core competencies within each curriculum area.
At i Learn Montessori School we are proud to offer a comprehensive Montessori education that encompasses the five traditional curriculum areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Studies. Our carefully prepared environment fosters independent exploration and hands-on learning, allowing children to thrive in their educational journey.
In addition to our core Montessori curriculum, we provide enriching programs that enhance the learning experience, including STEM activities that spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and math; French language lessons that promote linguistic development; creative arts that encourage self-expression; and yoga and mindfulness practices that cultivate emotional well-being and focus.
Together, these offerings create a holistic educational experience that nurtures the whole child and prepares them for a successful future.
The Montessori Curriculum is built around five key areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Studies. Each area consists of thoughtfully designed materials that become progressively more complex, allowing children to advance at their own pace according to their developmental stage and individual interests.
Montessori educators introduce key lessons to familiarize children with the name, purpose, and learning objectives of each material. Following the lesson, children are encouraged to work with the material independently, giving them the opportunity to explore, practice, and connect with the core concepts at their own rhythm.
During this process, educators take on the role of observers, carefully noting each child’s progress while fostering their autonomy. Intervention is minimal and only occurs when necessary, as empowering children to take ownership of their learning enhances their ability to absorb and retain new information.
New lessons are introduced when the child demonstrates readiness to move to the next level. Through consistent practice and exploration, children gain mastery of the materials and develop a deep, foundational understanding of each area of the curriculum.
The Montessori Practical Life Curriculum focuses on everyday tasks that foster independence, responsibility, and coordination. Children engage in activities such as pouring, sweeping, dressing, and food preparation, which not only enhance their fine motor skills but also promote concentration and self-discipline.
These activities revolve around 5 key areas including, Preliminary Exercises, Care of Self, Care of Environment, Grace and Courtesy, and Control of Movement.
Sensorial education is a vital component of the Montessori curriculum, designed to refine and enhance children’s sensory perception and cognitive development. Through engaging, hands-on activities, children explore and categorize the world around them using their senses of sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.
For example, the Fabric Box allows them to experience different textures, enhancing their tactile awareness while by engaging with materials such as the Pink Tower and the Brown Stair, children develop spatial awareness and learn about size, dimension, and order.
These sensorial activities not only stimulate curiosity and creativity but also lay the groundwork for more complex concepts in mathematics, science, and the arts. A well-developed sensory foundation is essential for children’s overall learning and understanding of the world.
Mathematics is an integral part of the Montessori curriculum designed to cultivate a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through hands-on exploration and concrete experiences.
Our Montessori materials, such as the Golden Beads and Geometric Solids, allow children to grasp the concepts of counting, place value, and operations like addition and subtraction in a tactile way and as they progress, we introduce them to advanced concepts like fractions and geometry.
By encouraging exploration and inquiry, our mathematics program fosters a love for numbers and problem-solving.
Literacy development is a key focus at nurturing a love for reading and writing through engaging, hands-on activities. Our phonetic approach introduces children to the sounds of letters using materials like the Sandpaper Letters and The Moveable Alphabet, which help them learn letter formation and to experiment with spelling and sentence construction, encouraging their creativity and language skills before they even begin writing. Storytelling, vocabulary enrichment, and group discussions further support literacy development, fostering comprehension and communication skills.
Cultural Studies at i Learn Montessori School provides children with a captivating exploration of the world around them, promoting an understanding of diversity and global awareness. Through various activities, children learn about geography, history, music, and traditions from different cultures.
By fostering an appreciation for diversity and interconnectedness, our Cultural Studies program encourages children to develop empathy, respect, and curiosity about the world, preparing them to be informed and compassionate global citizens.
Our STEM Enrichment Program is designed to cultivate a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on activities and experiments. Emphasizing the Montessori philosophy, we engage children in interactive activities that encourage curiosity and critical thinking. Through experiments, building projects, and problem-solving challenges, children learn to ask questions, formulate hypotheses, and explore solutions in a supportive environment. Our program incorporates age-appropriate materials and real-world applications, allowing children to connect theoretical concepts to their everyday experiences.
Our French Enrichment Program provides a unique opportunity for children to immerse themselves in the French language and culture in a nurturing and engaging environment. Utilizing the Montessori approach, we incorporate interactive activities such as storytelling, songs, and hands-on projects that promote natural language acquisition while respecting each child’s individual learning pace.
Our program emphasizes practical communication skills through playful interactions and real-life scenarios, allowing children to build confidence in their language abilities.
By integrating French language learning into our daily activities, we empower children to develop a love for languages and lay a strong foundation for future linguistic exploration.
Our Arts Enrichment Program at our Montessori childcare center is designed to inspire creativity and self-expression in young children through a variety of artistic mediums. Through this classes children can explore visual arts, music, and drama. Through engaging activities such as painting, sculpting, and music-making, children develop fine motor skills, enhance their imagination, and gain confidence in their artistic abilities. Our program encourages open-ended exploration, allowing each child to express their unique perspectives and emotions while fostering a deep appreciation for the arts.
Our Yoga and Mindfulness Enrichment Program is designed to promote holistic well-being and emotional regulation in young learners. Through age-appropriate yoga poses, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices, children learn to cultivate awareness of their bodies and emotions, enhancing their focus and concentration. Our program incorporates playful movement and relaxation techniques that encourage self-expression and stress reduction, helping children develop resilience and coping skills.. This enriching experience not only enhances physical coordination and balance but also instills a lifelong appreciation for mindfulness and wellness, empowering children to navigate their emotions and relationships with confidence and grace.
